Bien Media was founded by Melanie Bien, the award-winning PR, author, and former personal finance editor of the Independent on Sunday. Melanie is also one of the 25 most influential people in the British property industry, according to the Daily Telegraph.
I began my decade-long career in financial journalism with stints on The European, Sporting
Life and The Times, before editing the personal finance section of the Independent on Sunday.
Moving into PR, I became head of media relations at Savills Private Finance (now SPF Private Clients). During my five years there, I was named Press Spokesperson of the Year in 2007 and 2008 at the British Mortgage Awards, and Headline Money Best Mortgage PR in 2009.
I have written several books on property and finance: Renting Out Your Property for Dummies (now in its third edition), Buying and Selling a Home for Dummies, Buying a Home on a Budget for Dummies and Sorting Out Your Finances for Dummies. Read More
These days I advise a range of clients on how best to meet their PR objectives, whether it is appearing in the quality broadsheets, raising their profile among industry peers in the trade press, developing and implementing a social media strategy, or writing content for websites, blogs, client newsletters and brochures. I organise press and client events in the UK and overseas.
A regular independent industry commentator on television and radio, I have been interviewed on BBC Breakfast, BBC News Channel, BBC News at Six, BBC News at Ten, Channel 4 News, ITN News, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 – the Jeremy Vine Show, BBC Radio 4 – Today, Money Box and You & Yours, BBC Radio London, Sky News, and The Jeff Randall Show.
I hold full CeMAP (mortgage advice) qualifications, and was on the judging panels for the 2011 Estate Agency of the Year Awards in association with the Sunday Times and The Times, and the 2012 LSL Property Press Awards.
