Bien Media appointed by Jeremy Leaf Posted by: melanie
Jeremy Leaf, the former RICS chairman and north London estate agent, has appointed Bien Media to handle his PR. Jeremy is no stranger to commenting on the property market, building an enviable name for himself over the years in print and via broadcast media.
As well as being a former chairman and spokesman for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Jeremy’s day job is at ground level, running his estate agency business in north London. Jeremy Leaf & Co Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents started trading in Finchley in March 1984 and covers sales, lettings, surveys and valuations, becoming particularly synonymous with land and new homes, so Jeremy has plenty of experience at the coalface. His commentary is therefore insightful and reflective of what is really going on in the market.
Jeremy is available for comment on all manner of housing stories. Commenting on the latest house-price index from the Halifax for October, for example, Jeremy says: ‘As usual a national average house price has limited value, concealing significant regional differences. The fact that this snapshot is historic and records the actions of Halifax’s own customers also underlines its limitations.
‘That said, these figures are worrying as they suggest a continuing upwards trend which risks marginalising first-time buyers even further and is therefore not good for the health of the market. There is not enough balance in the housing market and there are still significant barriers to entry, despite lower mortgage rates.
‘If prices continue their upwards trend, it doesn’t bode well for those trying to get themselves into a new home early in the new year. Prices are high and supply low – that imbalance makes life very tricky for buyers. Those looking forward to welcoming in the new year in a new home might be struggling to achieve this unless they are prepared to pay for it.’
