Bien Media – one year on Posted by:

I can’t believe it is a year since Bien Media was incorporated. One year ago today, I set up my financial PR agency offering media relations, copywriting, web content and social media strategy and implementation to companies working in the mortgage and property industries.

I have the extreme good fortune to work with a number of excellent clients who have been a pleasure to deal with. I launched with mortgage brokers SPF Private Clients (my former employer) and Anderson Harris, a small, boutique brokerage, as my first clients. I added independent buying agents Gabby Adler and Nathalie Hirst a couple of months later, followed by removals firms Anthony Ward Thomas and Aussie Man & Van. As with Noah’s Ark, for some reason my clients seem to come in twos.

In December last year I was delighted to add private bank Nedbank Private Wealth to my roster of clients (and yes, I have just the one private bank for now). This gives me a good number of clients covering a broad range of areas, and takes me beyond mortgages and property into investment, banking and savings territory.

There have been plenty of highlights in my first year, including securing just under 550 press mentions for SPF Private Clients, and getting Anthony Ward Thomas profiled in Fame & Fortune in the Sunday Times, as well as in Growth Capital in the Evening Standard.

Running my own PR agency has been a steep learning curve but I wouldn’t change it for a minute. Now I’ve got 12 months behind me, I plan to expand while retaining my USP – that clients get me to do their PR, rather than an untested junior. It gives me limited scope in terms of the number of clients I can work with but does mean, I hope, that they feel they are well looked after and get good results.

Here’s to the next 12 months.
